Fire of the Spirit
Do we desire to be red-hot soldiers ready to strike while the iron is hot in a mighty Salvation blaze? When was the last time we desired to see real revival, not just a guest speaker or a religious concert? When was the last time we allowed the Holy Spirit to have His way in us and in our services? Or desired for the fire of the Holy Spirit to fall upon our lives and to see God move in our towns from center to circumference among the people?
What an amazing concept to have the fire of the Holy Spirit residing and reigning in you to do a work for God. This certainly took place in the life of Kate Shepherd, who was only 17 when she and other young Hallelujah Lassies were sent to the Rhondda Valley under the direction of General William Booth.
They were sent to the people to help bring the Gospel of peace in a time of pain. Several coal miners had passed away due to explosions at two coal mines. As Kate and the other lassies prayed and prepared to say ‘a good word for Jesus,’ they discovered that the citizens were hungry for God. They no longer desired to see the mere mechanical services but were stirred by the directness of Kate. She appealed to the conscience of her listeners through her simple gospel messages interspersed with singing, praying and heartfelt testimonies of the newly converted. This had a great impact and became the spark that started the fire of the Spirit of Revival.
Do we desire to be red-hot soldiers ready to strike while the iron is hot in a mighty Salvation blaze? Have we the fire of the Spirit in our work today? The overwhelming needs of the hour are blood-washed messengers of the Lord with divine fire burning in their souls to see souls saved, sanctified and serving.
